Kissing Laura in Nairobi

The last few days in London, Marburg (Germany) and now Nairobi (Kenya), have been a whirlwind, and overwhelming to say the least. I’ll blog some thoughts from the experiences of meeting academics, missionaries, church leaders, and visiting churches, cities, suburbs and slums.

Meantime, I just got back from feeding Giraffes. I was forced under peer pressure to feed Laura, who takes the food from your lips. Their mouths are full of strong natural antiseptic, thankfully!

I think I’ve kissed Laura as well, though maybe this is her daughter. Having lived in Nairobi for 11 years and now being away for 12 years, this picture brings back many good memories. Trust your time these expands the heart and mind. If you meet a pastor named Oscar Muriu (Nairobi Chapel), please pass along greetings.

Small world! I will do. Do you know Patrick Murunga, from Church of the Good Shepherd?

Yes, I do know him, but he might not remember. If you mention Africa Ministry Resources to him, he’ll likely put it all together. Other names to look out for: Lee and Sandy Weiss, Don Kearby. Have a great time. How long are you there?

Am even more jealous; I taught there in ‘87 and ‘88; great folks. Left a big portion of my library there when we left in 96.

me too. And I annoyed my daughter called Laura by shouting out, “guess what, there’s a giraffe called Laura here!”. She’s very tall and didn’t think it was funny!

My little sister will be so annoyed that there is a giraffe called Laura. She’s meant to be the giraffe, I’m meant to be the koala.

I’ll have to find a koala with her name now…

Maybe we need to swap our animal identities…!
