I’m still digesting Guy Kawaski’s blog post on making the most of Tiwtter. It has to be the best overview and tip sheet I have yet read, on using twitter.
That was a fascinating blog post by Mr Kawasaki, mostly because he uses Twitter in a way that I find unappealing. For me the best thing about Twitter is the opportunity to create and read thoughtfully/cleverly written 140 character essays/stories/poetry. (The second best is that I can update my Facebook status without actually spending time on Facebook.)
I rarely click on links or look at pictures. I like getting new followers, but if they are boring and I don’t know them, I won’t follow them just to be nice. I like my boring black square avatar. Every example he posted seemed dreadfully dull. I’m not afraid to reply to popular people, but I only do it when I actually have something I think they would be interested in. I actually want to read the tweets of people I follow, so I don’t follow too many and I unfollow people who tweet too much.
All this is not to say that I think Mr Kawasaki is wrong, rather that there is more than one way to twit a cat. My favourite Twitter ‘tool’ is http://www.favrd.com
