Flow: short term catechism & missional order resources
16 Jan 2009

24 people in two groups, started our short term catechism and missional order ‘Flow’, just over a week ago.
I outlined the background to Flow in a previous post, and we are putting all the resources to Flow in a mini site, flow.vineyardchurch.org.
Out of all the things we have done as a community, this is one I am very excited about, for seeing lives changed, and Christian identity formation.
I’ve included information on the concepts for Flow, and how it responds to the liturgical formations of consumerism, in the book project I am writing for, with Pete Rollins and Scott McKnight.

Jason,
I read your blog on flow, and it grabbed me because of what God is speaking to me and doing in my own life, and I was compelled to watch the ‘FLOW’ video, and all I can say is ‘whoa’.
I’ve been seeking hardcore the purpose and plan God has for my life – I know it’s so much more than the daily ordinariness – I’m dissatisfied with living life in a rut.
It’s been a long process that began over a a year and a half ago, and has been increasing and where more pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. I’m presently taking an on-line course offered by the vineyard church – Essentials in Worship – which is totally in line with the number two ingredient to FLOW. Amazing.
I also first heard the phrase, ‘local is the new global’, through that medium as well. Interesting.
I’ve been desiring travel and missions very much, but God keeps turning us away from each thing we look into, and brings something local into our lives where we can serve. Now I have a grid for understanding why – thank you!
I’ve also been desiring to break out of the pattern of my life, where I just stay quiet about my faith and stay afraid to pursue talking to people about things of faith and praying for people and really, being intentional about it all as you said. So this thing about 40 days being life changing is hilariously revelational! I’ve been wanting to go somewhere to live missionally for awhile as much to change these things about myself as much as to serve! LOL
You spoke about personal trainers etc. giving 40 day plans with which to reshape your life, and I’ve been reading a book called ‘Body By God’, in which he lays out a 40 day plan! to get closer to caring for my body and my life as God intented.
Wow.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, but I’ll stop there for now.
Thankyou for the insight! And blessings on you and your church!
I’ll let you know if I actually start a 40 day gig as well – I might just keep adding things on and exchanging others. Who knows, this all might be prep for when God’s going to say, “Aaaaannnd….GO!”
Smiles,
M
By the way, where are you guys in the world?
I didn’t read any info. about who you are or where you are LOL
